It's Grammy y'all! The much anticipated music awards show of the year. And here is my review of the show and by the way, I think Rihanna's dress is the best red carpet outfits. The hair, the make up and the red are killing anybody chance on that title.
1. Taylor Swift opened the awards show with We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. I don't love it but of course it is better than her performance with a fellow country legend, Stevie Nick, on 52nd Grammy. She should stop singing like she have the highest vocal octave ever. And I don't like how she is slapping Harry with her British accent on that performance. Not professional.
2. LL Cool J hosting the awards for the second year in a row. His name might have the "cool" in it but he is certainly not a cool host. I don't like him yesteryear, still don't like him this year.
3. Ed Sheeran and Sir Elton John. Damn. I don't know Ed Sheeran sing it live better than in his record. What a good live performance. Damn. Love the voice.
4. Adele won her third Best Pop Vocal Performance (her's first was actually named Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and it changed to the later, last year) and couldn't be more proud and predictable than that. Love it.
5. Fun. performing a slow number for their first Grammy titled Carry On. Simple but cool enough for Grammy. By the way, I don't know Lena Dunham is dating one of the group member and she look more excited and stoked than her boyfriend.
6. Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley. Oh God. I love Over You, the song, but not how it was perform. I've never heard Home before (not really into Country but I still have a spot for that genre) but their collaboration is not good. Awkward harmony and all.
7. Miguel and Wiz Khalifa. Why Grammy didn't give him a chance to perform Adorn right? They both deserve a much length performance than that. I love that song. Love Miguel. Oh by the way, I don't think Wiz Khalifa got the memo on the dress code.
8. Carrie Underwood won Best Country Vocal Performance. I love that song and I can't see any reason why she wouldn't win that category, she have like the killer voice. Hunter Hayes is cute, though.
9. We Are Young by Fun. won Song of The Year. I thought Call Me Maybe or The A Team have a good chance to win it but it's Grammy y'all. They love Fun. so much. Fair win though, that song is definitely one of the anthem of 2012.
10. Ellen Degeneres and Beyonce announced the performance of Justin Timberlake. I think Ellen should host Grammy next year, she host Oscar before, why not Grammy right? Anyway, Justin Timberlake look so pumped while performing, I guess the addiction to perform helps. Love him (and his hair, where does the curly Maggi hair goes?). New song? I like it better than Suit & Tie.
11. Frank Ocean won Best Urban Contemporary Album for Channel Orange and my man, Chris Brown, don't even bother to stand up. Meow!
12. Maroon 5 and Alicia Keys, I think, the only performance that gets the standing ovation of the ceremony (JT's not counted as the audiences is forced to get up by Beyonce, on their feet before he even come out). It could be the second awkward collaboration but it turned out good. Daylight and Girl On Fire blended well.
13. Kelly Clarkson won Best Pop Vocal Album. Totally didn't expect this since I have my bet on Florence + The Machine but great for her. I love her.
14. Rihanna performing Stay. Damn. I have to award this performance as Rihanna most genuine performance ever. I felt her. The song is one of the song I like in Unapologetic (others are Diamonds and Right Now).
15. Kelly Clarkson give a tribute to Patti Page and Carole King. Her voice is the voice of the night. Amazing.
16. The best performance of 55th Grammy Awards is the tribute to Bob Marley and somethin' from Bruno Mars. It's Bruno Mars, what do you expect?
17. The Lumineers kill it on stage with Ho Hey. Love the song.
18. Carrie Underwood performance is the only one that push the envelope of what a performance should be in this new technology era. It's breathe a fresh air on the stage. Coolest dress by the way.
19. Frank Ocean also breathtaking, and show something different from what Grammy always been.
20. Mumford and Sons won Album of The Year for Babel. Well deserved. I don't know they are British.
21. LL Cool J closing the awards? Nice. Just in time to switch the channel. The only performance that I don't watch. Syok sendiri punya persembahan.
Yeah, that's my opinion on the show. Looking forward to next year of the awards and what the music in 2013 is offering.
p/s: Still dreaming of winning Malaysia's first ever Grammy
