The John: Melaka & Langkawi (Part 2)
Let's proceed with the second part of this siblings adventure. The trip from Melaka to Kuala Perlis took about 7-8 hours and we used that opportunity to sleep the entire journey and arrived at the jetty before the sunrise. FYI, this is my second time to visit Langkawi, so yeah, I was using my memory to navigate us the entire journey.
We took the first ferry which is like 7am. The weather aren't really cooperating, so I was scared that it will take tolls on our plan. The ferry ride took only an hour from Kuala Perlis. We arrived at Langkawi before 9am. All of our accommodation (Booking.com is very helpful), rent car and island hopping were done before we arrived at the island.
After getting our car, a Vios (we were promised MyVi but since they don't have one on hand, they upgrade our car without the price upgrade), we go straight to our hotel, Hotel Bahagia (my second stay at the hotel, we're told the owner are from Sarawak), and the receptionist were nice enough to allow us to check in early and we got a connecting room. Fun!
Since it was a heavy downpour at the time, we decided to go to a place which we don't have to run from rain, so we go to Underwater World.
Greeted by the gays of bird community.
The penguin were fun to watch, although i feel bad for the sea lion (?) with such a confine space that he/she got but he/she might enjoys it, you just don't know. But the best part of the Underwater World, for us, are not even all the animals inside, it was the mini expensive challenge.
There were two of it, first was like the one in Justin Timberlake's Mirror music video where we have to find a way out in that tricky space. Gurl, went the light went off, I went off too. I beat anyone in front, side, back of me with my balloon. Man, can't see shit in there and then you're afraid that your siblings will left you alone. Trust issue much, eh? Lol. My sister got the beat tho. Lol.
After that, we were put in a room to experience a hurricane simulation. Gurl, all the earthquake and strong wind didn't do anything to us but when the rain is falling, we went batshit. Nah, I ain't gonna let my outfits or my hair to get wet. Lol. My poncho ain't a poncho after the simulation was done, more like a ponch-no-more. Nothing was intact.
We were out of that place before 3pm. Some chocolate shopping and then head back to our hotel. We had our dinner at a restaurant nearby our hotel, which I did visit during my first time in Langkawi. Food still tasted good. Fast service too.
Next day, we actually plan to go for island hopping in the morning but since the bad weather won't stop, we chose to go to Mahsuri Tomb. Besides, our agent told us that they can't do it for the morning session and we'll inform us about the afternoon session if the weather is getting better.
Once arrived at the tomb, i thought for sure they'll kick me out for the way i dressed myself which i totally didn't plan on wearing for the visit (i wore it cause i thought we're going for an island hopping). seems inappropriate visiting a tomb. but luckily, no one pays attention.
The place was quite pack with visitors since it is a public holiday and we didn't enter Mahsuri's house because of that. i don't like crowded place, plus i've been into the house before. did told my siblings if they wanna come inside, i'll be waiting outside but none of them wanted to except for Jacq.
After that, we went to Langkawi Cable Car but man, once we arrived there, the place is worse than Mahsuri's Tomb. About hundred of people were lining up to ride the cable car. There's no way we can make it when the agent of island hopping told us that we are in for the afternoon session. We only have two hours left before next activity, so we decided to not go for the cable car and headed back to hotel and get ourselves ready for island hopping.
There were only us and a couple on the boat for the island hopping which is fun cause i'm all about less people. We did Pulau Beras Basah (i was the only that swam at the island as my siblings refused to or they don't bring alog their clothes) and Pulau Dayang Bunting. The Pulau Dayang Bunting was fun as we got to ride the thing, which I don't know what they're called. Mine and my sister's won't move as fast as my brother and sister's, so we have to do some manual labor in order for us to catch up. Thank goodness that we're both kinda athletic, so it wasn't a problem.
After we checked out of the hotel on the next morning, we went to Eagle Square to get some pictures with the iconic statue. Again, too many people at the square, so we have to take whatever that we can and we ended with pictures below (and the one that posted on my Instagram).
Once we arrived at Kuala Perlis, we're told that not many bus are available at the time and we have to wait until 4pm for our bus to come.
We arrived TBS at midnight and we spent some time there as the earliest transportation to KLIA2 is at 3am. Arrived at KLIA2 before 4am. The sleepiness is unbelievable. We had our breakfast at Texas Chicken and tried to get some sleep there but the staff told us that we can't. It was a self torture, trying to keep our self up from falling into sleep.
Because our flight is later in the evening, we're trying to do things to kill our time. We go to KLIA to have our lunch there, using the free shuttle service. Huhu.. And then go back to KLIA2 to check our baggage. Once we're in the departure hall, that's when the 12 hour of drama begins.
First, our flight were retimed twice and then at about 9pm (like two to four hours from the first schedule departure time), we're told that the airline is providing with dinner for the delayed and told us that our flight will be depart at 10pm. So went to redeem our dinner outside of the departure hall. Once we got our dinner, we went back inside the departure but we're stopped by the airline's personnel and told that we can't go inside since our flight departure time is unknown until further notice.
We're left hanging at the airport with almost zero help from the airline. Until we follow some people from the same flight and asked the information counter. We're told that our flight will be available next morning at 6am and we need to go to the airline hotel to stay overnight, free of charge. Once we arrived at the hotel, gurl, it was chaotic since about two to three flights were cancel for that day trying to get into the hotel. I feel bad for the receptionist at the time. People were screaming at them and everything. I was really over that shit and just sat at the corner and let my sisters handle it. It was like, 12am. I had my medicines and we haven't had any proper sleep since yesterday.
About an hour or more later, we finally get our room. Once we had our dinner and clean ourselves up, we went straight to sleep. I set three alarm clock and i only able to turn off just one of them and i don't even hear the later two. I was so tired. We check out of the room at about 4am and went straight to the departure hall. From that until we get into the airplane, I just slept all way through. Don't even noticed the plane took off and only awake when we're served with food that booked earlier. And the straight back to sleep until Miri.
Luckily, I did applied for an extra day of leave for a rest day. Not so much for my brother tho cause as soon as we arrived at our home, he went straight to work. Tips, always take an extra day leave, just in case your airline fucked up.
All in all, it was the best holiday. Better than last year. Don't know where we will go next year but we plan to visit places in Sarawak. Like Mulu (but the budget is like going out of country). We'll see.
p/s: I'm glad I can finish this entry. It was a long hard fight of my short attention span and procrastination.
