Seksualiti Merdeka : 'I'm gay, I'm Ok'
All the homophobia, homosexual and homo-curious are uproar over the video posted in Youtube few days ago about a Malay guy who is confessed that he is gay and he is okay with it (speculation saying that he is originated from Borneo Island). Here is the controversy video :
First of all (as most of my reader know that) I'm a supportive of same sex relationship. Okay, i admire his braveness to be open about his sexual orientation in YouTube. Good on you, brother. I like the effort of non-profit organisation called 'Seksualiti Merdeka' (somewhere near Independence Of Sexuality) to raise and support It Gets Better cause in US. I did post about this cause in HERE. Read that.

Here is the thing.
This guy is a Malaysian. In Malaysia, homosexuality act will be put in the jail for 20 years.
This guy is a Malay. 99% of Malay is a Muslim. Malaysia is a country where Islam is the main religion. Islam and some other religion didn't agree with homosexuality.
This is Malaysia. Not United States or Britain. Even US still didn't have a full equality rights.
That being said, the video above is not appropriate. Yet. Malaysia is not ready (or will never will) to support same sex relationship. 2010 is not the year for some gay to be so open about their sexual orientation, especially if they are a Muslim.
The comments on the above video are really intense with some people want him to die and call him an animal. That is not cool. Dear homophobia, let him do the sin. Don't let until yourself doing another sin. He will find he way back to the 'straight' road but until then, let him enjoy it. We can't forced someone to be back normal, if he refuse. That is a torture.
My suggestion to Azwan Ismail, pack your things and run away to Australia. Australia approved same sex marriage or homosexuality. Not that i ashamed of you being a Malaysian but you'll do better there as a gay. If you do, then you can say : "Saya gay, say OK."
Peace.
