2015 : Part Three
The third highlight of my life in 2015 was that I start to join running competition. If you follow my blog well, I have been actively running since the passed away of my father. It is a mechanism for me to cope with his death and that I want to get healthy for myself.
I did compete in running competition before when I was at UiTM (remember second to last in that 3000m?) but I have never participated in a public running event until August last year. I compiled the five running event that I joined last year:
2. E-Fact Charity Warrior Run 2015, 6km (8km actually, they didn’t include the obstacle maze) with 54mins
3. SPE Run! A Race Against Time, 10km (10.3km actually) with 1hr15mins . I barely made it into the Top 30 placing at #30. Lol.. But man, getting up the stage to claim the certificate is like winning a golden globe.
4. Miri Beach Run 2015, 10km (9.8km actually) with 1hr09mins. It was the first time me and bae’s competed in the same event, though we didn’t planned it at all. I mean, I found out about it when I saw him across the starting line.
5. Miri-Sibuti Balloon Run 2015, 6km with 39mins.
I am proud of myself even though I didn’t do well (read: top 10 at least). I remember once at the mid run for that 3rd run of my life, I almost gave up because I didn’t practice at all and I thought what’s the point of running when I can walk to the finish line, then a song by Avril Lavigne (RIP Avril) titled Fly came up, I start to run again and I ended up coming at #30. Had I gave up then, I wouldn’t have the right to brag about it. I will always that moment whenever I ran afterwards. Never quit before the finish line.
Looking forward to 2016. Already registered for two running event. One in the February and another in the Mac. That Mac is a testament since it will be my first 21km.
