A Walk To Remember

This article is written on September 3 of 2011.

Hey y’all. Sorry I can’t publish this entry on time due to some technical difficulties (jawapan ala ala artis bila cancel show). Paham paham la, saya bukan orang berduit, nama blog pun dah terang-terang terpampang as My Life On The Z-List, so tak mampu nak bayar broadband on time jugak. Anyway, I’m not pleading for anyone to pay it for me. Saja bagitau korang sebab dia, takkan nak tipu kan, reka cerita? Saya dah puas menipu, cukup cukup la dosa menipu tersebut.

Back to the basic..

About couple of months ago, ada la someone I like (Woot! Woot!) mentioned about me walking from my house to the city center, kira macam perli la, sebab I salah menggunakan ayat masa texting dengan that person. It clicks on my mind and I proposed that idea to my sister and we talk about it and we think it’s possible. So, I buat la goal that I’m gonna do that walk, before the end of the four months long holiday. I decided to do it on 3rd of September, obviously because I love number 3. Coincidentally, that date fall on Saturday, so if anything bad happen to me during that walk, at least I can call for help from a family member, e.g. my sister since she’s a government servant (orang kerajaan kerja on weekday ja).

As the date approaching, I prepared myself with an intensive workout session which consists of 2000 times of jumping rope, 50 times of sit down, 50 times of sit up, 30 times of pumping and a random dance move to the song of Britney Spears’ I Wanna Go. I do that almost every day at my home, 5pm to 6pm. Additionally, I jog/run at a straight long road near Batu Satu, Kuala Baram (simpang depan Miri Port tu) once. It took me 27 minutes to running/jogging non-stop at that road but I have to called it off since the sun was about to set. It was hard. I can’t even see the end of the road, no matter how fast I try to run. Also, I turun naik 17 anak tangga dalam rumah untuk 50 kali both sides. I did it for more less 12 minutes. It was hard too. Only my cats can be the witness as them the one who saw me doing all that crazy stuff. Hehe.. My mom would be freaking out if she knew. She probably calls me stupid again.

Anyway, finally 3rd of September is here. That morning I woke up at 5.20am. Shower and breakfast.  My mom suspicious of me for showering and waking up so early in the morning. I didn’t tell her anything about my plan for that walkathon. It did crossed my mind that if I don’t tell her, bad thing will happen cause we all need bless from our mom, right? No? At least that’s what I think. Still, I didn’t tell her a thing because I know she would say a big NO. That morning too, I even think to give up and just relax at home. Normal me, a big QUITTER. Terdorong dengan semangat nak buang sifat Quitter tu, I teruskan juga. Lagipun I dah announce bulan 7 dulu kat Twitter yang I nak buat benda ni. I announce lagi Khamis hari tu pasal ni jugak, kat Twitter. Buat malu ja kalau cakap ja besar.

I melangkah keluar dari rumah tepat tepat jam 6.29 pagi, minutes after my mom going to work (she’s private sector worker).

Nampak tak jendela Level 1 yang terbuka luas tu? Tu la bilik tidur saya. Motif bagitau? Malam malam datang la korang melalui jendela tu, macam dalam scene citer omputih tu. Huhu.. Anyway, I took this picture sebaik saja I melangkah kaki untuk memulakan perjalanan. P/s : That car bukan milik my family. Jiran sebelah punya, tak pandai parking sampai termakan our space. -.-‘

Tepat jam 7.11 pagi, I dah memijak my feet on this place. Berani I cakap, sepanjang perjalanan saya, liku liku ni yang paling susah sebab kereta banyak (7pagi, banyak yang turun kerja kot) and then lalang dia tinggi-tinggi. Less travel by foot road kot. Huhu..

Ni la jambatan penyambung Permyjaya dengan Pujut, Jambatan Pujut 7. Dulu time still tinggal kat Pujut 8, selalu lepak bawah jambatan ni lepas habis waktu sekolah. Tadi I tengok, dah penuh dengan semak tempat tu. (7.26am)

Maybe still in the list kot, this decade. Sedeyy. Kotor kotor pun, I pernah merasa mandi manda kat sungai ni. Haha.. Dulu la, sekarang ni tak berani kot. Dah la hitam, ada buaya lagi. Seramm! (7.27am)

Tepat satu jam (7.29am) sudah saya memulakan this walk, I dengan selamatnya crossing the bridge and made it to Pujut 7. Ni la the other side of the bridge.

Ni la sekolah rendah I dulu, SJK (C) Chung Hua Pujut. Disini la saya membesar dan meluangkan half of my childhood time.

I choose to walk by the main road as it will provide better security to myself.

Cun cun jam 8 pagi, I sampai depan the famous GK Supermarket.

GK Supermarket (tak la super mana kan? Tapi feeling macam masuk market foreign country kalau masuk kedai tu) ni berhadapan dengan Bulatan Pujut/Piasau.

Few minutes away from GK Supermarket, I jumpa this stone (8.02am) macam batu nisan tu. Actually, apa maksud nombor 6 tu? Is it 6km to Miri or 6miles to Miri? Confuse.

22 minit kemudian, I jumpa another one. It took me 22 minutes to walk 1km or 1miles.

2 hours into my journey, I selamat sampai depan SESCO.

Boulevard Restaurant ni berhadapan dengan SESCO tadi. Non halal punya restaurant, I think.

8.44am, I dekat lagi nak sampai dengan the original Boulevard kat Sarawak ni.

I thought I wouldn't have a chance to snap batu nisan yang tertera nombor 3 sebab I tak jumpa yang nombor 4 punya but here it is! Guess what, I tak jumpa yang nombor 2 dan yang nombor 1 after this. Urgh, gila nombor 3 sangat I ni. Huhu..

8.53am, kira-kira 2 minit away from that batu nisan above, I see this familiar building. Just saying. :P

9.04am I sampai di depan Grand Palace Hotel.

Ha! Dengan backpack, seluar tracksuit hitam, baju ‘I <3 Malaysia. This Is My Country’ and cermin mata curi di Johor dulu, dia ni la sewel buat kerja takda faedah. Haha..

I’m a good photographer. Confident. Anyway, depan selekoh ni, I hampir hampir kena langgar by a Hilux. Actually, sepanjang perjalanan ni, tu kali kedua I hampir hampir kena langgar. First, time keluar dari Taman Ceria. Kereta Hilux juga. Huhu.. Nasib la after that, no more. Kalau masuk kali ketiga, confirm I masuk lubang kubur. Huhu.. Palis palis.

My favorite place to hang out and shopping, since 1998. Unbeatable.

Tepat 9.31 pagi, bersamaan dengan 3 jam 2 minit sejak I melangkah kaki dari Taman Ceria, I sampai di Bintang Megamall! See, nombor 3 jugak. Hehe.. I asked my brother to pick me up and bring me back home. Seriously, my legs are just fine after that. Amen to that.

Ni la stuff yang I bawa dalam my backpack. Hehe.. Ada tuala, earphone, pewangi bilik, paying, 1.5liter drinking water, pair of scissor and some crackers. You guys must be wondering about the air freshener and scissor, right? Motif bawa pewangi? Mana la tau ada penjahat, boleh spray that wangi kat mata dorang. Motif bawa gunting? Gunting tali kalau diikat oleh penjahat. Haha.. Apa apa pun, at least I sediakan paying sebelum hujan, kan malang tak berbau. Who knows right? Sedia saja la stuff untuk protect myself.

Overall, it was definitely a moment that when I’ll look back when I’m older, I will laugh at. I’m a random young man who’ll do anything for nothing. Do I regret this? What for? Roughly, I burnt about 900 calories out of this walk. I did it in 3 hours, and I predicted it will be 6 hours. In the future though, I am looking forward to join the official walkathon or marathon.

p/s : I’m crazy, told you so. Unpredictable.

UPDATED : Rupa-rupanya benda yang I cakap macam batu nisan tu, in Miles actually. So kira-kira I walked 10 to 12 miles la that day.
